When Nithya came to me she was in deep pain that was making her dry, cold and constantly being irritated and angry.
Nithya was a young woman struggling to cope with the sudden passing of her beloved father. She had been very close to him since childhood and his death had left her in a deep state of grief. She was unable to find solace in any of the things she had once enjoyed, and felt absolutely lonely, betrayed, and helpless. It was too much to bear, as her pain led to sleepless nights, constant fatigue, and withdrawal from the world around her.
Nithya had such a strong bond with her dad that she felt his presence around her. She now had long conversations same as before, in dream space. She could at times hear him, as an inner voice. She got scared when she could not only feel but actually see him moving around at home, while others didn't. She felt like she was losing herself, though no one around her knew it as she didn't share this with anyone. Lost, confused, she kept getting worse.
At the suggestion of her family friend, who noticed how she looked so pale and lost these days, Nithya decided to try Creative Spiritual Vedic interventions as a therapy. I still remember her first session; long gaps of silences, no tears, no portrayal of pain; as if she had mastered the art of hiding her inner state. Only her father could see it and he often helped her process it too.
As she was not sharing much I decided to share my story with her instead. In years of my practice, I have seen that the most powerful ancient process of healing is story-telling. It is such a therapeutic process that speaks straight to your subconscious, to your soul. Sharing one's own story, an experience heals others too. Hence I shared how I felt when I could see my dead brother moving around me, when I lost him 23 years ago.
How I had so many soulful conversations with him at that time. How I felt constantly as If I am losing myself and requested my dead brother to not show-up too. Being a young mother of two kids, I was scared and thought I had psychological issues. 23 years ago the only intervention available was seeing a psychiatrist, counseling and popping some pills (which I never did). Yet it stopped when the reality of his death got uncovered. Little did I knew this would magically touch Nithya so deep.
She cried like a small child while listening to the story. She felt heard and could relate so much to my story. Though she shared nothing, yet agreed she felt better and instantly booked for a package of few sessions.
Sometimes when a client have no words to express their state of being, tell them stories, stories of your healing, of your another client or a friend. This brings courage and hope into their soul.
She soon began attending sessions to learn how to express her emotions through the medium of painting and chanting. With guidance, she began to explore her feelings on large papers, allowing the colours, textures and forms to speak to her. As she continued to paint, write and chant under guidance, Nithya started to notice a tiny sense of relief within her, slowly seeping in. When she looked at her artwork she saw how much of her pain had been released.
Her guided regression sessions to connect with her father to complete the unfinished conversations were becoming her meditative space to retrieve her over-baked soul.
The sense of healing that Nithya had found in Creative Spiritual Vedic interventions which were a combination of art, meditation, journaling were not enough. She lost control of herself again and again, so often leaving her self in deeper pain than before. She still felt a huge emptiness within her, and although she had taken a few steps forward, she still felt totally lost and confused at times.
At this point, I as her mentor held her tightly in my own energy space assuring Nithya how important it is to work on her energy system. That's where she decided to try Energy Work along with Creative Spiritual Vedic intervention. She had few deep healing sessions through energy-work along with other interventions. Here, she found a deeper level of understanding, both of her grief and of herself.
Through this practice, she was able to gain a greater insight into the source of her suffering, and the steps she needed to take to find a sense of peace. Her pain started transforming into love energy and passion to bring life into her being.
Nithya's journey through grief has been a long and emotional one, but she eventually found her way back to a place of inner calm. Through art and spiritual Vedic interventions, she was able to slowly uncover her true self, and come to terms with the pain of her loss.
GRIEF never goes away, you grow stronger around it, and it slowly fades.
My grand-mom in law once told me, at a time when I was in deep pain and felt lost, when you find no strength to move, never hesitate to borrow. Borrowing is a beautiful gesture of nature, it promotes co-existence. Borrow strength, borrow courage from anywhere you can get it from, be it a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, your family, just anyone. Borrowing is taking help. Take help, surrender and relax.
I have written more on the concept of borrowing in my next blog. Read to learn more, Till then.
